SAMHSA/CSAT Conference Grant 2002, 2003, 2007, & 2008- KIR Conference

The Danya Institute was awarded a conference grant from SAMHSA/CSAT for the Keeping It Real 2002, 2003,2007, & 2008 Conferences. These national conferences were convened by the Center for HIV, Hepatitis, and Addiction Training and Technology (CHHATT). The CHHATT is maintained through our cooperative agreement with SAMHSA/CSAT to operate the Central East Addiction Technology Transfer Center (Central East). The Keeping It Real Conferences are for outreach workers and related healthcare workers regarding HIV/AIDS, hepatitis, and substance abuse. The conference agendas were built around the Outreach Competencies that were developed by the CHHATT. The overall goals of the Keeping It Real Conferences are:

(1) To provide cutting edge information on addiction and co-infection with HIV and Hepatitis C to outreach workers and substance abuse counselors;

(2) To improve efforts to find and assist hard-to-reach population and special populations;

(3) To improve prevention of co-infection through knowledge dissemination activities including conferences and post-conference products.

The Central East, through the CHHATT, has convened seven Keeping It Real Conferences and another is planned for September 2009.
