Central East Addiction Technology Transfer Center (Central East)
The Central East Addiction Technology Transfer Center is one of 14 regional
centers and a National Office throughout the United States and its territories,
funded through a cooperative agreement with the Substance
Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration’s (SAMHSA) Center
for Substance Abuse Treatment. The Central East covers Delaware, the
District of Columbia, Maryland, and New Jersey. The Central East focuses
on improving the skills, knowledge and attitudes of addiction treatment
professionals, and on providing support to the states in our region on
issues related to workforce development and professional development.
To accomplish this goal, the Central East has undertaken the following
activities:
- Implementation of training and technical assistance activities, including
curriculum development, academic support, and dissemination of best
practices based on the needs in each state in our region;
- Publishing newsletters and fact sheets related to current addiction
research findings and maintaining and expanding a print resource center,
including a catalogue listing of journals, publications, and articles
containing the best practices and the latest addiction research and
information;
- Using the Internet as a means for information dissemination, communication,
and training, including the development of online courses; and
- Training and dissemination of information from the Center for HIV,
Hepatitis, and Addiction Training and Technology (CHHATT), which is
our Center for Excellence under the Central East.
